Parents of Powerstown we need your help!
Could you help us out approaching local businesses for prizes for our school raffle? All our proceeds from the raffle will go towards funding out swimming lessons next year. If you think you'd be interested, you can contact Cróna, Anita or Róisín for a school letter of request. We'd really appreciate your help as we need all prizes by December 4th! Today we sang a song called "We Show Acceptance". We have been talking about how it is OK to be different, and we don't mind if people are different because that makes the world an exciting place. We made up our own Lámh signs and used them in the chorus! Today we were so lucky that we got to try some drumming, We played Bodhráns, Drums, tambourines and shakers. We even had a dance, and kept the beat going for a loooong time! Here are some pictures and some videos: We are doing a whole class experiment, We have 3 pieces of bread. 1 was untouched by us. 2 was touched by everyone after playing in the yard. 3 was touched by everyone after we washed our hands. They are all in separate sealed bags. We are going to check the pieces of bread everyday... watch this space for our results! Experiements Thank you to Ryan who brought in his very own science experiment. He explained and demonstrated to the class. Materials: Vinegar, baking powder, a bottle, a balloon, a spoon. Method: Step 1 Put some vinegar into the bottle Step 2 Use a spoon to put some baking soda into the balloon Step 3 Put the balloon around the top of the bottle Step 4 Lift the balloon so that the baking powder falls into the vinegar Result: The vinegar and baking powder make a gas and the gas goes into the balloon, making it expand! Science for FunThank you to the parents who were able to help us during our Science for Fun morning.
We had a great time learning about Sound. We got to see sounds, to feel sound, to hear sound and to make sound! We are looking for parent input on upcoming developments in the school.
When you visit the Parents' Room in the school, take a look at the noticeboards on the walls and add your ideas for: 1: The Percent for Art Scheme (ideas for art works inside and outside the school) 2: Outdoor Learning (ideas for ways we can develop our outdoor learning spaces) 3: The Library (ideas for our new library) We value your input and it would be great to get as many opinions as possible before we decide on these three developments. The Parents Room is open daily from 08.30am until 2.30pm. Don't forget Coffee Afternoons are every Friday from 1.20pm until 2pm. Here at Powerstown ETNS we cover the topic of RSE (Relationships and Sexuality Education).
Here are the Home- School links for the 4 topics we will be covering in Senior Infants. Please take a look at them and if you have any questions at all feel free to email me/ message me on Class Dojo and I can organise to show you what we will be talking about in class.
