Let's get practicing! Heritage week will take place from the 22nd until the 26th of January in PETNS. We have lots to see and do. We will be focusing on history, particularly our own personal histories, over the course of the week. As part of Heritage Week, we are inviting parents to attend a 'Show And Tell' session on Thursday 25th January @ 12:30pm in the Oak and Sycamore class. This is where you would bring something from your past to show to all the children and answer questions about it. This might be an old game, an old souvenir, an old book or something relevant to your home country! We would also LOVE to have any grandparents here that could possibly attend to answer questions about when they were younger and how their life was different then. It is sure to be a lovely afternoon. If you would like to attend and speak to the Oak and Sycamore Class, send me a message on ClassDojo and we'll look forward to seeing you! Aoife has also created a super museum for us. Here is a sneak peak of what is inside!
A big well done to all the children for their excellent performance at our Winter Show last week, they all worked really hard to learn the words and the actions. A big thank you to the parents who were able to come and see us perform. Take a look at our video below! The PTA and the pupils of Powerstown ETNS are delighted to announce that our 2nd School Art Exhibition is now on display in our school hall!
The theme of this year’s exhibition is ‘Winter Wonderland’. The artwork is now beautifully finished, professionally framed and catalogued for display in the school. As well as a great artistic event we are using the exhibition as a fundraiser to help to reduce the cost of swimming lessons for all the families in the school. The pictures are great value at only €10 each. Framed print copies of the originals, which would make a lovely present, will be available to order during the Winter Fair this Friday 8th December. We look forward to seeing everyone there but if you can’t make it & would like to have your child’s picture, send the money in before exhibition day and we will arrange delivery. Art is an area that every child enjoys and the exhibition will be a big social event in the life of the school this year, so please come along, (support our fundraiser) and admire the work of all our talented children! The student council are delighted to announce their next school event this Thursday, November 23rd. We are hosting a 'Teddy Bear's Picnic' in our school hall. Boys and girls are invited to bring in a small teddy and a small treat to bring to our hall in the afternoon. Our event is a fundraiser is to help Educate Together and all they do to help new and developing schools. We hope pupils can support us by donating €1 for this special activity.
Parents of Powerstown we need your help!
Could you help us out approaching local businesses for prizes for our school raffle? All our proceeds from the raffle will go towards funding out swimming lessons next year. If you think you'd be interested, you can contact Cróna, Anita or Róisín for a school letter of request. We'd really appreciate your help as we need all prizes by December 4th! Today we sang a song called "We Show Acceptance". We have been talking about how it is OK to be different, and we don't mind if people are different because that makes the world an exciting place. We made up our own Lámh signs and used them in the chorus! |
